All students from Year 1 to 6 attend weekly music lessons delivered to meet the expectations of the Western Australian Curriculum.

Our music room is a creative, well resourced, vibrant learning environment that allows for students in every year level the chance to play tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments.

Choral singing is also a key focus for every class with every school assembly showcasing a whole school performance of newly learned songs.  Student from years 4 – 6 are also encouraged to join our school choir and perform throughout the year at school events and at the One Big Voice, Western Australia’s largest children’s choir festival held at the Perth Arena.

Selected students in year 5 and 6 have the opportunity to participate in the programs offered by the Instrumental Music School Services in both classical guitar and brass (trumpet, trombone, baritone).  Weekly small group instrumental lessons are provided by an experience instrumental teacher with students given opportunities to participate in enrichment music activities at Wanneroo Secondary College.

Facilitation of after hours, onsite music tuition in keyboard and guitar, is provided through a partnership with ‘Keyed Up Music’ a company that provides small groups music lessons for interested students.

Music at Hocking is a fun and creative experience and culminates at the end of every year with a whole school concert that showcases the musical talent of all students with an evening of singing, instrument playing and dancing for the whole school community.
